Choosing Jewellery to match your Colour Scheme
Look through any bridal magazine and while whites, creams and ivories still dominate, there is a definite trend towards colour – either in the whole dress or just in the detail and embellishment. If you are an older bride or perhaps this is your second marriage – the more traditional gowns may not appeal. Whether you choose traditional or a dress with more colour and detail, the right colour choice for your jewellery will enhance the gown you are wearing.

For white, ivory or cream dresses, you can’t go wrong with classic pearls – but why not put a twist on the traditional? As well as cream and white, Swarovski offer pearls in Gold, Bright Gold, a lovely soft cream/brown called Powder Almond and a new Platinum pearl.

If you are considering crystal jewellery, take a look at the Swarovski colour palettes. As well as the always popular Crystal and Crystal AB beads, they do 2 beautiful beads - Crystal Moonlight and White Opal.
Both of these beads have a slight blue tone and are absolutely perfect with pure white dresses. If wearing ivory, why not think about Crystal Silver Shade and for cream/gold-toned dresses, there’s the very delicate and sparkly Crystal Golden Shadow.

Of course, if you’re wearing a less traditional coloured gown both the Swarovski and Czech Firepolished Cut Glass ranges have a vast array of colours to choose from.

Remember – it may not always be necessary, or even possible to get the perfect match, but as long as you stay within the same colour spectrum and are within a tone or 2 either side of the dress colour, you should be OK.
Here at SilverTree Jewellery Design, we use mainly Swarovski Crystal and Pearls and the precision cut facets in the beads and the coating of the pearls these are designed specifically to pick up and/or reflect light and colour. This means they will reflect colour back from your dress, your hair and skin tone and the general surroundings - as well as from each other if used together in large groups. You should always bear this in mind when you choose your beads as these external factors may slightly alter the colour/effect of the finished piece of jewellery.
A final consideration when choosing the colour of your jewellery – or your dress for that matter – should be your colouring. Always take into account your skin tone, hair and eye colour and stick to colours you know work for you. Your wedding day is not the day to take risks.
For inspiration when choosing your colours, please take a look at our Swarovski Crystal and Czech Firepolish colour charts to see the full range of colours available. Remember these beads are not exclusive to SilverTree Jewellery Design and are available to most jewellery designers - although we like to think few other designers offer the extensive choice we do.
