Choosing Jewellery to Match the Neckline of your Dress
This is a good area to start with, as there are some pretty hard and fast rules, which not only make sense, but also are fairly easy to follow! Simply put - the perfect necklace should follow the shape of the neckline of you dress.
Round Neck
If you are wearing a round-necked dress, then it follows the necklace should be round! Our suggestion would be a simple string of pearls or crystal – or a variation on this theme.
Square Neck
This neckline is quite a strong shape, so to soften it slightly, why not consider, again, a round shaped necklace?If there is quite a lot of neck on show – a multi-strand necklace in a round shape might be a good idea.
V-Neck, Halter Neck or Sweetheart Neckline
Any necklace with a drop would be perfect for either of these necklines and if wearing a halter neck, try to go for something that has most of the detail at the front.
Another alternative would be a pendant on a chain.
When choosing a necklace or pendant to match any of these necklines, think carefully about the length. The design should point towards the cleavage – not disappear in to it!
Strapless
The most popular option on the market today. This design lends itself perfectly to round shaped necklaces, pendants or the traditional bridal favourite – the choker. The design can be as simple or as bold as you dare.
