How do I Work Out the Size and Measurements of My Jewellery?

Most of the design sheets have a section on fitting and measuring your jewellery. The Technical Bit on the design sheet will give you any dimensions you need.

Below are some handy tips for working out the sizes and dimensions of our bridal jewellery.

measuring bridal necklacesNecklaces

As you can see in the picture, we suggest you take a tight measurement round your neck. We will then tell you how many inches/centimetres to add to get the perfect fit.

measuring drop of bridal necklacesAny drops are measured from the point where the drop joins the main body of the necklace to the end of the drop. The drop on most necklaces is the same regardless of neck size - if your neck measurement is correct, then the drop length will be perfect too and not disappear into your cleavage!

Bracelets

Bracelet fittings are a very subjective thing! Some people prefer to wear them fairly tight around their wrist, while some like a looser fit.

The best advice we can give is measure a bracelet you already have and feel comfortable wearing.

Alternatively, measure your wrist as shown in the picture and add half an inch (1.5cms). This will give a comfortable fit.

Earrings

We measure all our earrings from the hole in the ear to the end of the earrings.

Add approximately 5mm to the length if choosing clips or screw fittings for non-pierced ears.

Swarovski Crystal TiaraTiaras

The height of all our tiaras is measured from the bottom of the base (closest to the head) to the top of the tiara.

All the tiaras supplied by SilverTree Jewellery Design are made on round crown bases.(click here to see a picture). These tiaras bands CANNOT be worn in undressed hair - the hair MUST be dressed around them to hold them in place - as shown in these pictures.

Swarovski pins & tiaraBefore buying a tiara - from anyone - think carefully how you are going to wear your hair on your wedding day - better still talk to your hairdresser first. We've heard many tales from hairdressers who have found it impossible to fit tiaras because they have been unsuitable for the bride's hairstyle. We hasten to add none of these tiaras were ours!

Swarovski bridal alice bandAlice Bands

Alice bands fit very tight to the head, following its natural contours. All measurements use the band as the starting point.

Alice Bands are the simplest of all the hair accessories we supply. They can easily be slipped on the head for a comfortable and secure fit - making them ideal for even the littlest bridesmaid (who may be tempted to remove them during the day!)

They are ideal for brides with short or medium length hair, hair that is quite fine or for those of you who don't want an 'up-do' for your wedding day.

Bead Sizes

We mainly use 4mm, 6mm, 8mm and 10mm beads in our jewellery and this measurement always represents the widest/longest part of the bead (if there is such a thing in a round object!)

Any doubts over the size of the beads, just let us know and we'll send a sample.
